When purchasing PC indented steel wire, how to choose the right product is the most concerned issue. Therefore, choosing the right indented steel wire requires comprehensive consideration from many aspects such as engineering requirements, performance parameters, and quality standards. 1. Identify the Application Scenarios
- Structural type: Determine the stress mode (such as tensile resistance and fatigue resistance) of the required steel wire according to different scenarios such as bridges, sleepers, and building components. For example, railway sleepers need to focus on fatigue resistance, and long-span bridges require high strength and low relaxation characteristics.
- Design load and span: The larger the span and the higher the load, the higher the strength level of steel wire (such as 1860MPa) needs to be selected, and the diameter and number of steel wires are determined by calculation to ensure that they match the design requirements.
2. Meet Special Environmental Requirements
- Corrosion-resistant scenarios: In easily corrosive environments such as marine engineering and saline-alkali areas, it is recommended to use galvanized indented steel wire or stainless steel-based steel wire to enhance corrosion resistance.
- Fatigue resistance requirements: In scenarios such as railways and bridges that bear dynamic loads, it is necessary to confirm the fatigue test parameters of the steel wire (such as the number of cycles ≥ 2 million times) to ensure long-term stability.
3. Pay Attention to Key Performance Parameters
- Strength index: steel wire with a strength level of 1570MPa-1860MPa (in accordance with GB/T 5223 "Steel Wire for Prestressed Concrete") is preferred, which must be consistent with the prestressing requirements in the design drawings.
- Relaxation performance: For scenes that bear loads for a long time (such as water conservancy projects and permanent buildings), low relaxation steel wire (1000-hour relaxation rate ≤2.5%) should be selected to reduce long-term stress loss.
- Surface quality: The depth and spacing of the notches must be uniform (the national standard requires the spacing of the notches to be ≤20mm) to avoid stress concentration caused by uneven notches and affect the load-bearing performance.
4. Matching Specifications and Sizes
- Diameter selection: The common diameter is 5-12mm, for example, 5-7mm can be selected for floor components, and 9-12mm can be selected for bridge cables, which needs to match the specifications of anchors and tensioning equipment.
- Cross-section and material: Monofilament or stranded wire can be selected according to the design to ensure coordination with concrete components; the surface is free of cracks, rust, and oil stains. The material is preferably high-carbon steel (such as SWRH82B), and it is more stable after tempering.
