What is SWRH82B material and what are its usages?

SWRH82B is a designation of high carbon steel wire rod, commonly used to manufacture high-strength PC steel wire, steel strand, etc. Our factory can produce products with diameters of 6.5 mm to 16.0 mm, including more than 20 series of products with strengths of 1140 MPa to 1400 MPa to meet customer needs. Ⅰ. Meaning of the Designation:

- SWRH: stands for "Steel Wire Rod for High strength for cold heading and cold extrusion".

- 82: Carbon content is about 0.82% (high carbon steel with high strength and good toughness).

- B: Quality grade (usually "ordinary" or specific purpose grade, which needs to be determined in combination with standards).

Ⅱ. Main Mechanical Properties: 

According to relevant standards, the mechanical properties of SWRH82B high carbon steel wire rod (delivery state is hot rolling) usually meet the following requirements:

Note: Tensile strength (σb) ≥1080 MPa (significant high-strength characteristics, suitable for high-load scenarios); Elongation after fracture (A) ≥8% (with certain plasticity to meet cold processing requirements); Some standards may require surface reduction (Z) ≥30% (reflecting material toughness and deformation ability). 

Ⅲ. Key Advantages:

- Standardized production: in line with national standards such as GB/T 4354, stable quality, easy for large-scale application.

- Balance of high strength and toughness: despite the high carbon content, it still has a certain toughness through reasonable smelting and rolling processes, and is not easy to break brittlely, suitable for manufacturing prestressed steel wire, steel strands and other components that bear high tensile stress.

- Processing adaptability: The surface quality of the wire rod is smooth and the dimensional accuracy is high, which is suitable for subsequent processing such as cold drawing and galvanizing.

- Cold processing performance: It can be further strengthened through subsequent drawing, twisting and other processes, and the finished product strength can reach more than 1570 MPa (such as prestressed steel wire).

Ⅳ. Main Application Areas:

1. Construction and Bridge Engineering

- PC Steel Wire/Strand: used for prestressed tendons in concrete structures (such as bridges, high-rise buildings, and water conservancy projects), bearing high tensile stress loads.

- Steel Bar Connection Sleeve: high-strength connector to ensure the reliability of steel bar joints.

2. Machinery Manufacturing and Hardware

- High-strength Bolts/Nuts: fasteners that require high load-bearing capacity, such as heavy machinery and bridge steel structures.

- Spring Steel Wire: manufacturing automobile suspension springs, industrial equipment springs, etc.

- Chain Steel Wire: raw materials for high-strength lifting chains and industrial transmission chains.

3. Aerospace and Special Fields

- Special Steel Wire Products: such as high-strength ropes for aviation and high-stress load-bearing parts in spacecraft components (further processing and performance verification are required).

4. Other Industrial Fields

- Steel Cord for Tires: enhance tire strength, improve impact resistance and durability (surface coating treatment is required).
